Annie Cat

After an extremely busy couple of months, I have finally found a small window to post a new portrait!  Last year, I wanted to give Joe a meaningful Christmas present to thank him for all he has done for me.  Once again, I found myself far too busy to complete the gift that I had in mind.  However, I told myself this year that I was going to make it happen.

At the beginning of last month, I approached Annie Cat (Joe’s wife).. and asked her for permission to take her portrait.  If there’s one thing in the world that Joe cherishes more than anything else, it’s Annie!  She graciously agreed to help me out, and I immediately went to the drawing board.  I knew that I wanted to photograph her in a natural setting, and keep the styling very clean and organic.  Aside from being an extremely wonderful person, Annie can pull off any look you throw at her.  I told her I just wanted her hair down, light to no makeup, and her everyday wardrobe.

Once we got to the location, she threw on her jacket..  the collar flipped up and immediately caught my eye.  I shot only 2 rolls of film on my Rolleiflex, and knew that I had achieved what I wanted for Joe’s Christmas present.

Thank you to both Annie and Joe for all that you have done for me in the past two and half years.. I couldn’t be more grateful for such amazing role models.

Matt Leitholt - Great photo Michael. Love the natural setting and expression.

Eric Politzer - Cali, wonderful image. And such a thoughtful gift!!

All the best in the New Year.

John A. - Beautiful portrait, awesome idea… and I bet Joe loved this!

Kyle Jerichow - Nice one Cali! Oddly reminiscent of Whistler’s Mother.

On a side note, have you ever considered using Rolleinars with your Rollei? They would help to add another Denison to your wedding shoots I would imagine (for the detail images)

They come in three versions 1 for head and shoulders, 2 for close crop of head shots and 3 which is for very close up subjects like flowers etc.

All the best,

Cali - I actually own the Rolleinar 1 and absolutely love it! :)
